Look what I made!

Ok...yes, I am tooting my own horn a bit here, but check out the cake I made last week for an early 4th celebration! Pretty cool, right? Also, the cake was made FROM SCRATCH, so I'm pretty proud of that as well. I think I'll make this a new tradition....

Farm fun activities

Just a few pictures of us around the farm, doin', well, farm stuff! =)
Kayla riding Woody the horse, going to see Gabby the goose, holding one of the baby goats, riding the big swing, picking blueberries, and standing in front of the growing corn crop. The girls sure are building some pretty cool memories while we're here!

Blessings!

Chicken snake, anyone?

Ok, kind of a gross story, but the girl's Pawpaw shot a chicken snake the other day. It had gotten into the chicken/duck/dove pin and unfortunately, had already dined on one of the doves. Pawpaw shot it right between the eyes, cut the belly open to get the dove out, and strung it up so we could all see his kill. =)
Before hanging it up, he measured it, just for record of course.....
5 feet 4 inches! That's one big chicken snake! The girls were amazed and wanted to know why it had so many flies on it. I told them the flies were having "snake buffet." Here they are with the snake in the background. It's the thing next to the green garden hose.

Ahhhh....life on a farm!

Blessings,

Ali

Test of Time

Our faith is designed to last. Our life of following Christ is not without its seasons or its struggles. Doubts, life circumstances and even crises of faith batter us season after season. Yet, like an antique house, these seasons provide us with an opportunity to strengthen and build value to our lives as we, by faith, invite God’s partnership with us step by step along the way. And, faith that stands the test of time is beautiful to behold. Believers should look to more “seasoned” Christ-followers as role models. In them, we see the value of long-term faith and we can seek to imitate their lives.

Today, remember that God is in the business of building your faith – a faith that will stand the test of time. Invite Him to build your faith whatever experiences this day brings.

Oh,what a Grand Canyon!

We've been back from our Grand Canyon adventure for a week now, but the sights I saw are still so fresh in my mind. It was all inspiring to be in the presence of such a masterful creation by our almighty Creator! There were several different view points along the main road of the GC, but I was fortunate enough to see the depths and the great details to it as well, as I rode down the side of it on a mule for 5 hours! It was pretty amazing to have done that, and although my body ached for a few days after our return, it was completely worth it! My mule, Teddy, liked to either hug the edge of the trail or run my knees along the side of the canyon,
but after the day was done, he got me to the bottom,
safe and sound ( a little bruised, but safe)
Here's just a taste of what I saw, and remember that
it doesn't even begin to give justice to the glory that it was!

Blessings,

Ali

P.S. More pictures to come, this is just a sample!

Thankful Thursday

Wow, where do I start? I am so thankful for...

a safe move here to TX,
two precious gifts from God,
a husband who loves God more then he loves me,
constant provisions in uncertain times,
a renewed spirit,
a refreshed marriage,
being surrounded by people who have Christ in the center of their lives
the free gift of grace, though I am completely undeserving

Today, and everyday, I am overwhelmed with God's goodness in my life, and I have faith that although we are in uncertain times, that my constant hope can be found in a living and loving God! What are you thankful for today?

Mother's Day 2009

So, I was told this picture is "blog worthy," so here it is. I had a blessed day, just enjoying my precious gifts from God. I got a great card from the girls in the morning (I was told Kayla picked it out all by herself) that had a magnet on the front of it that said "World's Greatest Mom." Now, I'm not sure about all that....maybe it should read, "World's most Blessed Mom." We enjoyed church service and then grabbed a bite to eat afterwards. That night we had some friends over for game night....what a great day! Hope everyone else's day was just as blessed!
